Title insurance is now commonly stated in commitment letters as a lending requirement. Are you equipped to explain to your clients what it is, what it isn’t, how it works, when it is needed, whether it is mandatory, how much it costs, and who pays for it? Are you able to respond to the myriad of related inquiries from your client? Do you know how title insurance can directly impact the intermediary and/or lender broker? Alan Frydenlund
As a solicitor, Alan acts for clients on various aspects of lending transactions with particular emphasis on representing lenders and borrowers on syndicated secured debt financings for all matters of lending transactions. As a barrister Alan conducts realization proceedings, including residential and commercial foreclosures, receiverships, and acting for clients in proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. Alan has conducted realization litigation in Courts in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and the Yukon Territory.
Alan has written and presented on legal topics for Continuing Legal Education and the Professional Legal Training Course. Additionally, Alan has tendered expert evidence to the British Columbia Supreme Court on financing transactions.

Peter Solymosi
Peter Solymosi completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of British Columbia in 1999 specializing in accounting and economics. After realizing that accounting wasn’t his jam he worked in the insurance industry for nearly a decade. Then he made the move to banking and worked in small business and commercial lending. From there he moved into the mortgage industry and took a role as general manager at White House Mortgages and has been working in mortgage lending ever since. In 2022 Peter and his broker partners started a podcast called the Mortgage Life in which they have down-to-earth conversations about mortgages with the goal of creating a library of mortgage related topics for consumers.
