Session 1: BC Economic Outlook & Housing Market Update

The session will begin with BCREA Chief Economist Brendon Ogmundson.
The Bank of Canada has embarked on an aggressive rate-tightening cycle in 2022.  What will this mean for the Canadian and BC economy and the BC housing market? In this presentation, BCREA Chief Economist Brendon Ogmundson will present his economic outlook and outline what to expect from the housing market in a rising interest rate environment.

Session 2: Tools to Navigate and Thrive Through Uncertainty and Change

The event will end with a keynote presentation from Scott Orth, Resiliency and Mindfulness coach.

Being a Mortgage Broker has always been demanding. But today it is more demanding than ever. High inflation and rising interest rates create additional financial pressure on home ownership. As clients look to you for solutions, your challenges include navigating falling house prices that can make refinancing difficult, core inflation which impacts your clients’ ability to service mortgages, and increasing mortgage rates which make it far more difficult for your clients to qualify for mortgages.

Uncertainty is the key word these days for most Brokers. Since everyone knows these are natural cycles, the question is how to navigate this uncertainty and change with greater resilience, focus and grace.

This Keynote will :

  • Help you to understand how your nervous system responds to high uncertainty.
  • Help you see how uncertainty and change affect your ability to focus, make decisions and performance at your best.
  • Provide you with five practical tools you can implement right away to manage your nervous system and come through the current economic cycle calmer, clearer and more confident.
