Mortgage Services Act Rules & Regulations Approved
On July 14, 2025, the BC Government officially approved the rules and regulation that will guide implementation of the Mortgage Services Act (MSA), modernizing the framework that governs mortgage brokering across our province. The announcement triggers a 15-month transition period from the current Mortgage Brokers Act (MBA) to the new MSA. The transition period ends when the MSA comes into force on October 13, 2026.

Response to Bill 14 – Amendments to Residential Tenancy Act
CMBA-BC is actively addressing member concerns about the recent amendments to the Residential Tenancy Act. We have met with ministry representatives to discuss these issues and released a joint press release with the BC Real Estate Association to propose alternative solutions.

New Program: First Home Savings Account
To assist first-time home buyers, the federal government brought into existence (as of April 1, 2023) the First Time Home Savings Account (FHSA).
