Member Spotlight: Kari Hawryluk

While many kids daydream of becoming an astronaut or a pop star, Kari Hawryluk had a different plan. From a young age, she was drawn to numbers and strategy, with her sights set on becoming a financial planner. No astronaut helmets or microphones in sight; just a calculator and a clear vision for the future.

“Whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always say a financial planner,” she tells CMBA-BC. “Yes, I’ve always been into math and planning!”

Though this was the goal for years, Kari discovered after university that the financial planning office life didn’t feel quite right. Instead, she decided to explore her passion for fitness, launching her own business as a certified personal trainer.

In 2019, as she transitioned out of the fitness industry (with impeccable timing, she jokes), multiple people suggested a new path: mortgage brokering.

Fast forward six years and Kari is a valued member of the McIntosh Mortgage Group in Victoria. Energized by helping others navigate big life moments, her story is one of adaptability, insight, and staying true to what feels right.

“Becoming a mortgage broker was one of the best decisions of my life,” she says.

The CMBA-BC recently had the pleasure of catching up with Kari to learn more about her after-work activities and interests.
